My name is Christian Gamborg. I am Senior Scientist in Natural Resource Ethics.

I divide my work between two centres at the University of Copenhagen: Forest & Landscape and the Danish Centre for Bioethics and Risk Assessment. 

I am responsible for a number of courses, including conflict management and a methods course for landscape architects and urban designers, and used a recurrent guest lecturer in several courses on topics related to sustainability and natural resource ethics.

At SUFONAMA I teach at the module Thematic Course in Forest and Natural Resource Planning. My research areas are: natural resource ethics, sustainability, philosophy of science and conflict management.

My name is Erik Dahl Kjær and I am Professor in Genetic resources of woody plant species.

Furthermore, I am the Director of the REFOLANA (Forest and Landscape) PhD-programme at Faculty of Life Sciences. I am employed at Forest & Landscape, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen. My teaching is mainly related to aspects of sustainable use, domestication and conservation of genetic resources of trees and shrubs growth within their native range.

At SUFONAMA I teach the module Conservation and Management of Genetic Resources.

Research areas are: population genetics, diversified tree breeding and conservation management. The role genetic diversity in relation the challenges provided by climate chance and landscape fragmentation is an important part of most of our work. Presently, our main research activities are focussed on (1) native Danish species (mainly Fraxinus excelsior, Malus sylvestris, Quercus robur, Q. petraea, Tilia cordata, Ulmus laevis, U. glabra, Corylus avelana, Rosa sp.), and (2) native African fruit trees in West and East Africa (mainly Adansonia digitata, Parkia biglobosa, Vitellaria paradoxa and Allanblackia stuhlmanni). We also have activities on the tropical species Tectona grandis for quality timber and Jatropha curcas for de-centralised production of biofuels. On the more intense breeding part, the main Danish species in our programme are Abies procera and Abies nordmaniana, but also work with provenance testing of a number of species and deployment of low input breeding for more than 20 species. Finally, we have research activities related to the Hørsholm Arboretum with some 2000 woody taxa.

Hans Skov-Petersen

I am employed at Forest & Landscape, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

I teach courses and supervise project work in GIS in relation to the Faculties BA and MSc programmes, including programmes conducted by SUFONAMA.

My research areas are: GIS, Spatial modelling, Recreation, and Spatial Behaviour.

My name is Helle Overgaard Larsen. I am Associate Professor in Forests and Livelihoods in Developing Countries at the University of Copenhagen. I am employed at Forest & Landscape, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

I teach Research planning where students prepare their own research design from selection of research problem, literature review and choice of methods for data collection and analysis.

Students have found it useful for preparing their thesis plan. The course is located in block 1 and is elective for SUFONAMA students.

My research areas are: Forest-people interactions, specifically: forest and livelihoods, forest and health, dynamics of forest dependency. Research is often linked with community forestry.

My name is Henrik Meilby and I am associate professor in forest mensuration and modelling. I am employed at Forest & Landscape, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen.

My name is Thure Hauser. I am Associate Professor in Plant Ecology at the University of Copenhagen, in the Department of Agriculture and Ecology.

I teach a BSc ecology course for the Natural Resource students, and am responsible for a more advanced course in Conservation and Management of Genetic Resources for MSc students.

My main research focuses on the evolution and ecology of resistance to herbivores and pathogens in natural plant populations, environmental impacts of growing genetically modified plants and effects of hybridization between plant species.
